Figures in italics represent Madeira/sponge cakes.  All values given are based on 1" (2.5cm) square or 1½ X ½" pieces for rich fruits, 2 X 1" (4 X 1.5cm) pieces for Madeira/sponge cakes.  

This will give you a rough guide as to how many portions the cake will cut.

Remember to include all the following sets of people when calculating the number of portions required:

Guests attending the celebration

Guests attending the evening reception

Guests unable to attend

Others not invited to whom the cake will be given or posted
